How many CPD points do I have to earn?
From 1 January 2008, you must earn at least 12 CPD points in each 12 months period, starting from the date that you first renewed your licence in 2008.
What if I renewed my licence for three (3) years?
You must still earn at least 12 CPD points in each 12 month period (36 points at the end of the three years).
What if I renewed my licence for three (3) years in 2007?
The relevant 12 months for you is from when you would have first renewed your licence in 2008 if you had only renewed it for one year in 2007
(eg: if your licence was renewed on 8 November 2007 for 3 years – you would be under the new CPD system starting from 8 November 2008)
What if I earn MORE than 12 CPD points in a 12 month period?
If you accumulate more than 12 CPD points in the relevant 12 months, you can roll over up to a maximum of 11 CPD points into the next 12 months.
What activities will earn me CPD points?
Acceptable CPD activities include seminars, conferences, forums, courses (face-to-face, CD-based or online-based), trade nights, and formal meetings. The topics covered in these CPD activities must relate to at least one of the eight (8) topics as approved by the NSW Office of Fair Trading.
How many CPD points can I earn for different CPD activities?
Most CPD activities will earn you one (1) CPD point per hour. A CPD activity that involves an assessment (i.e an exam or similar), is linked to a university degree or training package, and is delivered by a registered training organisation will earn you two (2) CPD points per hour.
Can I earn CPD points for anything else?
Yes. You can claim CPD points:
- for employing apprentices or trainees (one point per apprentice / trainee); and / or
- for points accumulated by your business partner.
However, the maximum CPD points you can claim for the above two items combined is 4 CPD points in each 12 months.
Can I claim CPD points for being a member of an industry association, having a good compliance history, or personal research?
No. The New CPD System does not allow CPD points to be earned in this manner.
What if I have an individual contractor licence and a company licence?
CPD only applies to individuals. If you have an individual contractor’s licence (or a qualified supervisor’s certificate), and a company licence, you only need to earn 12 CPD points in each 12 month period for the individual licence that you hold.
Online CPD Courses
How many CPD points will I earn for each Online CPD Course?
You will earn TWO (2) CPD points for each Online CPD Course that you complete.
Do the Online CPD Courses contain any tests or assessments?
No.
Are the Online CPD Courses easy to follow and understand?
Absolutely. Our Online CPD Courses have been developed by industry experts, and have been specifically designed to make it easy for you to follow and understand. Our Online CPD Course contain sample ‘questions and answers’, examples, diagrams, and sample documents, to simplify complex information and make it easy to follow and understand the Online CPD Course that you are studying.
After I finish an Online CPD Course, what happens next?
After you have completed the Online CPD Courses that you have purchased, visit our website, and click on the ‘Acknowledgement Form’ icon. This Form will take you less than a minute to complete, and is a way of us confirming that you have read and understood the Online CPD Courses that you have purchased.
If you purchase more than one (1) Online CPD Course, you only need to complete the Acknowledgement Form once, being after you have completed all of the Online CPD Courses that you purchased.
What CPD records should I keep?
After you purchase our Online CPD Courses, you should keep a copy of the email sent to you with the Courses attached. Once you complete the Acknowledgement Form, we will also keep that record for you as well.
